Just got the game and I'm really enjoying it, the game is kinda easy though but still it brings a good gaming experience to it's players.

how good is the disaster series? Is the story interesting? How well does it simulate disasters?

It focuses mainly on survival which made the game entertaining to me but our preference may differ so I suggest you watch any demos online for a clearer view of the game's concept , they used triggers like earthquakes , water pipeline breakages, gas explosions and more creating a chain of disasters that you must live through with the help of the items scattered through the game. Kinda reminds you of Siren's gameplay which relies on taking advantage of your surrounding.There's a HP bar, Stress bar which affects your actions like running and the way your characters react on a situation and a personality meter which affects your interactions with you co-fellow survivors though I'm not sure if it affects the game ending that you would obtained because the game features multiple endings.

I had interest in this series but I never got a chance to pick any of the games up. Is the 3rd one a Japan only release?

haven't heard of any us release date yet for disaster report 3 psp. Disaster report is kind of hard to find nowadays.

Yup the game's as of now is exclusive to Japan, if you had played the 2 installments you wouldn't have a hard time playing the game.

PSP is region free, so you can play any format.

i don't think the movies are region free though
